William Blaine Eggers was born March 1, 1955 to Leon and Dorothy (Wilking) Eggers. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Bill graduated from Montevideo High School in 1973. He was employed at Chandler Industries for over 40 years where he enjoyed both the challenge of his engineering job as well as his work family.

While cruising the streets of Granite Falls, Billy met his high school sweetheart, Jacquelyn Hansen. They were married on August 20,1977. They had one daughter, Kate. Billy loved them both unconditionally.

Billy cherished the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the family farm and lake cabin. He was a great storyteller, kind, humble, and incredibly loyal to his friends and family. In his younger days, Billy played softball for many years -sometimes balancing the game and caring for Kate at the same time! He enjoyed watching Kate compete in cross country throughout middle school, high school and college. As an avid Minnesota sports fan, Billy rarely missed watching the Vikings at his brother, Bob’s, garage or listening to the Gopher’s on the radio.

Billy is survived by his wife, Jackie, his daughter Kate Eggers-Leaf and husband John Leaf; brothers Thomas Eggers, Bob Eggers, and Tim Eggers; sisters Carmen (Lanny) Ostenson, Sue (Greg) Doose, and Karen (Mark) Slepica; Mother-in law Marguerite Hansen; Sisters-in-law, Jocelyn Hansen and Jody (Brian) Milliken; Brothers-in-law, Steven (Margaret) Hansen; David (Kathy) Hansen; Kevin (Susan) Hansen; John (Alma) Hansen; Jim (Jennifer) Hansen; Tom Hansen; Jeff (Sally) Hansen, Michael (Paulette) Hansen and Richard (Heather) Hansen, as well as many nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents Leon and Dorothy Eggers, sister Cathy and Douglas Golden and Father-in-law, LuVerne Hansen.

After struggling with health issues for many years and a recent cancer diagnosis, Billy passed away on October 18th at the Montevideo Hospital with his wife and daughter present. Blessed be his memory.
