Wayne Allen Ripley was born June 12, 1938, the son of Eldon & Hattie Ripley, in Sibley, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church in Dawson. Wayne graduated from the Dawson High School in 1956.
Wayne was united in marriage to Elaine Greenwalt at the Maynard Presbyterian Church on October 28, 1961. Wayne served his country in the United States Army National Guard and was recalled in 1961, during the Cuban Crisis. He worked as a farm hand for two years and then joined Thorstad’s Construction in January of 1964. He built his own house in Maynard in 1968. Wayne retired from Thorstad’s in 2000. He continued worked as a bus driver for 4 years. He was active with Let’s Go Fishing and the Maynard Lions Club, where he served as president for one year. Wayne and Elaine loved to garden and share in their bounty.
Wayne passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Henry Hill Apartments in Granite Falls. He was 77 years of age.
He is survived by his children: Kathryn (Dennis) Butler of Virginia, Minnesota, Steven (Annette) Ripley of St Paul, Scott (Lu) Ripley of Ruthton and Susan (Gary Wendorff) Ripley of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; siblings: Marjorie (James) Lindquist of Weslaco, Texas; Charlotte (Jerry) Otteson of Mora; Verla Eilers of Albert Lea; Joan Lindquist of Hugo; Jeff (Cheryl) Ripley of Plymouth; Milo Ripley of Bunkie, Louisiana and Charles Ripley of Golden Valley; and extended family and friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2002, two sisters: Viola & Arlys and two brothers Lester & Edgar.
