Robin Richardson

Robin Richardson, age 70, of Montevideo, Minnesota passed away Sunday, September 6, 2026, at CCM Health in Montevideo. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Watson, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Robin Renae Richardson was born March 12, 1956, to Ernest and Charlotte (Teigen) Solseth in Montevideo, Minnesota. She grew up in Watson and attended school in Montevideo, graduating with the Class of 1974.

After high school, Robin began working and spent much of her career in food service. Her adventure as a mother began with Ryan Backer while she was married to William Backer. Later, when she married Michael Richardson, she gained two stepchildren, Kevin and Melissa, and together they welcomed their daughter, Tara.

Robin’s greatest passion was horses; she found a special kind of peace and happiness in their presence. She attended school to become a horse farrier, and she and Ryan enjoyed breaking horses together. Her love for animals extended beyond horses—Robin adored her dogs and cats and even had a few cattle to keep them company.

In 2011, Robin and Tara purchased The Goose Bar and Grill in Watson, where Robin loved making friends and becoming part of the local community. She cherished the connections she made with the people who walked through the doors and enjoyed the simple pleasures of visiting with friends and neighbors. If you knew Robin, you loved her.

Robin is survived by her children Ryan (Lael) Backer of Montevideo, Tara (Brandon Hill) Richardson of Watson; stepdaughter, Melissa (Bob) Wheeler of Milbank, SD; grandchildren, Jesse Backer, Brady Backer, Josephine Backer, Cohler Nelson, Caiden Harwick; step-grandchildren, Tasia Ehlenz, Cody Miller, Dustin Miller, Keagen Wheeler; sisters, Loretta Yrdanoff of Texas, Lorrie Hill of Montevideo, Lorraine Larson of Watson; as well as extended relatives and friends.

Robin is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Roger and Malen; stepson, Kevin Richardson; brother-in-law, Danny Larson and sister-in-law, Sandy VanOtterloo.
