Phyllis Van Binsbergen, age 81, of Montevideo, Minnesota passed away Friday, February 3, 2023 at CentraCare St. Cloud Hospital.
A Public Visitation will be held Monday, February 13, 2023 from 12:00 Noon -2:30 PM at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Montevideo.
A Private Family Funeral service will be held with burial following at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.
Phyllis Van Binsbergen was born on October 12, 1941 in Montevideo, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Elsie (Schoeining) Ketelsen. She was baptized and confirmed at Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Phyllis attended school in Clarkfield and she graduated in 1959.
On October 17, 1959, Phyllis was united in marriage to James Van Binsbergen at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. The couple moved to California in the Spring of 1960. In 1962 when they returned to Montevideo Phyllis enjoyed staying at home and focusing on her family. In the late 70s, Phyllis returned to the workforce as a paralegal for the Nelson, Oyen & Torvik Law Office. She was good at her job and stayed there until in retirement in 2010.
Phyllis enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, gardening and listening to music. She was a private person, who you could count on being level headed.
Phyllis is survived by her sons, Gary (Sherri) Van Binsbergen of Clarkfield, Dean (Sandy) Van Binsbergen of Montevideo, Brent (Carrie) Van Binsbergen of Montevideo; daughter-in-law, Deb (Bob) Nutting of Port Charlotte, FL; grandchildren, Samantha Van Binsbergen, Amber Sanow, Alisha (Brett) Drexler, Cole (Emily Baerenwald) Van Binsbergen, Madison Van Binsbergen, Daniel Nutting, Joseph (Lynae) Nutting; great grandchildren, Braelynn, Alayna, Raegan, Piper, Arya; siblings, JoAnn Holte of Cornelius, OR, Bob Ketelsen of Fresno, CA, Joyce (Carl) Meyer of Middleton, ID; brothers and sisters-in-law, Irvin (Joan) Van Binsbergen of Montevideo, Lois (John) Vanden Brink of Montevideo, Gene (Linda) Van Binsbergen of Montevideo, Marlin Narragon of St. Helens, OR; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elsie; husband, James; son, Donald Van Binsbergen; grandson-in-law, Jacob Sanow; brother, Donald Ketelsen.
