Paul Beito, 81, of Arlington, Virginia, passed away on November 6, 2023, at the Virginia Rehab Center in Alexandria, Virginia. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 9th from 2 to 4:00 pm at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls. A private family burial will be held at Saron Lutheran Cemetery.

Paul Melvin "Poochie" Beito was born November 5, 1942, the son of Lloyd & Alta (Halvorson) Beito, in Granite Falls. He was baptized and confirmed at Saron Lutheran Church on June 16, 1957. Paul attended Asbury Country School through the fifth grade. He graduated from the Granite Falls High School in 1960. He was raised on a farm north of Granite Falls along with his five siblings.

Following graduation Paul earned a BA in English at the University of Minnesota in 1965. He taught school in Minneapolis and Rochester from 1965 to 1975. He became a CPA in 1984, after obtaining a Master’s Degree in Accounting from Pace University in New York. He worked for Brout & Company in New York from 1980 to 1984, and for Coudert Brothers stating in 1985. He eventually moved to McLean, Virginia and started a private accounting practice. Later he moved to Arlington, Virginia where he resided until his death.

Paul married Julie Homme in 1966. They divorced in 1971.

Paul was a talented singer and sang at many weddings and funerals. While living in Rochester he played Tony in a community production of “The West Side Story” making his family and friends very proud.

Paul loved to travel and traveled extensively in Europe. In 1966, he met his brother David in Paris. They then traveled by car back to Germany where David was stationed in the Army for 30 months. Paul especially enjoyed taking his parents to Norway in 1973, where they were able to meet Halvorson relatives and visit Beito, Norway.

Between 2011 and 2019, Paul and his partner Jose, traveled every year to different countries including Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Hungary, Norway and Sweden.

Paul also ran in the New York Marathon several times. One time he was accompanied by his nephew Rodney Bruflat.

Paul is survived by his brother David Beito (Lorelei Andresen) of Montevideo, his partner Jose Efrain De la O of Arlington, Virginia, sister-in-law Deanne Beito of Buffalo, brother-in-law Wayne Kling of Granite Falls and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Gary Beito, Donna Bruflat, Lou Anne Kling and Ron Beito, brother-in-law Bill Bruflat and sister-in-law Judy Beito.
