Nancy Anspach, age 76, of Montevideo, Minnesota passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at CCM Health in Montevideo. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, April 21, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Montevideo. A private family service will be held
Nancy Lee Anspach was born on November 2, 1946 in Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Darwin and Shirley (Jammerthal) Day. She attended school and graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1964.
Nancy married Verlyn Anspach on December 26, 1964. The couple made their home in Montevideo. Nancy worked at Innovex, and waitressed at Trailways Café for many years. Customers loved her witty and charming banter.
Throughout the years Nancy enjoyed many activities; daily card games (buck euchre) with her husband, Sudoku puzzles, collecting owls, gardening, canning, and cooking amazing meals for her family such as potato klub and lefse. She was also a big fan of the Minnesota Vikings and you could always count on her to coach them from her couch during games! She loved being at home and available for visits with her family. This made for many conversations with her that were wise, insightful, and with “no filter.”
Nancy is survived by her children, Shannon (DeWayne) Kurtenbach, Scott (Tawnya Anderson) Anspach; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers.
