MaryAnn Jaenisch, age 91, of Maynard, Minnesota passed away Monday, October 2, 2023 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Funeral services will be Friday, October 13, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 PM, one hour prior to the service at the church.
MaryAnn Shirley Jaenisch was born on August 30, 1932 to Sigrud and Esther (Haugen) Sundlee in rural Montevideo. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Baxter. MaryAnn graduated from Montevideo High School and began working at as a secretary at Northern States Power in Montevideo.
On September 12, 1954, MaryAnn married Gordon Jaenisch at Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Baxter, rural Montevideo. Together they built their life on the farm in rural Maynard.
MaryAnn continued working as a secretary at a few places, including the State of Colorado while Gordon was in the military, O’Keefe Law Firm in Montevideo, Clara City High School, Maynard High School, and Production Credit Association in Montevideo. She loved her job as a customer service representative at Molenaar’s in Willmar and worked there for 11 years before retiring.
MaryAnn was a member of the Maynard Legion Auxiliary, Maynard Homemaker’s Club, and a 4-H leader. She also spent time helping out at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City with Sunday School, Ladies Aid, and Quilt Club.
MaryAnn liked to spend time with her family and friends, and was always willing to help anyone. She was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan and enjoyed her flowers, traveling, and sewing. She was especially good at making quilts, and each grandchild received one for their graduation.
MaryAnn is survived by her daughters, Tamara Leyendecker and her children, Jessica Leyendecker, Justin Zaher, Kareem Zaher, John Leyendecker, Adam Wagner; Trudy (friend, Dana) Friedl and her children, Christina (Leif) Stinson, Megan Rose (Jason) Stonehocker; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Arianna, Shanyia; siblings, Dennis (Lavonne) Sundlee, Loren (Debbie) Sundlee, Sharon Olson, Shirley Sundlee; grandpup, Chloie Bella; as well as other relatives and friends.
MaryAnn is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; parents, Sigrud and Esther; grandson, Andrew Friedl; brothers, Orlin (Verna) Sundlee, Merrill Sundlee, Kenny (Delores) Sundlee; sibling-in-laws, Carl Jaenisch, Dan Jaenisch, Harold Jaenisch, Art Jaenisch, Lilly Rhode, Gustie Zimmer.
