Marlys Jean Schorn, 64, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Marlys was born April 9, 1953 in Willmar, MN to Margaret (Miller) and Anthony (Bud) Schorn. She grew up in Clara City and was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She graduated from Clara City High School in 1971 and then graduated from Brainerd Technical College as a dental assistant in 1972. On June 16, 1973, she married her high school sweetheart, Jim Fischer. They have two children. She had several careers throughout her lifetime including dental assistant, day care provider, clerk at the grocery store, and paraprofessional at the MACCRAY Junior High where she retired from in 2015.
Marlys was a patient, giving, and loving individual who always put family first. She enjoyed baking and cooking for others, reading, puzzles, crocheting, bird watching, traveling, and spoiling her granddaughter. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Preceding her in death was her father, Anthony (Bud) Schorn. Marlys is survived by her husband, Jim Fischer; daughter Amanda Lane (Phil); son Jonathan Fischer (Megan); granddaughter Ashley Lane; mother, Margaret Schorn, brother Dave Schorn (Karen), two nieces and two nephews.
