Lorraine Tebben, age 87, of Granite Falls, Minnesota passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the Avera McKenna Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at the Granite Falls City Cemetery.

Lorraine Elle Fossan was born on December 3, 1937, in Sioux Agency, Minnesota, the daughter of Thorvald and Hilma (Hogsven) Fossan. She was baptized and later confirmed in her faith at Rock Valle Church. Lorraine attended country school until the eighth grade when she went to Granite Falls High School and graduated in 1956.

In February of 1958, Lorraine married Dale Hagen and together they had seven daughters. They made their home in Granite Falls where she raised her family. Lorraine was a cook at White’s Café, Fall’s Café, Granite Falls Hospital and YME School District.

On May 16, 1992, Lorraine married John Tebben at the Project Turnabout Chapel. They shared a special bond, meeting in recovery at the Granite Falls Alano Club. Lorraine in Al Anon and John in Alcoholics Anonymous. Together they attended and actively supported the Alano Club. Lorraine and John blended their families and enjoyed spending time with all of them. Lorraine retired to care for John when he was diagnosed with ALS. Lorraine was by his side lovingly until he passed on December 9, 2001.

Lorraine enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting and rug making on her looms. She would welcome each family addition with a baby quilt. Like many in that generation, Lorraine subsidized by baking and selling rosettes to the local bakery businesses. Her legacy includes her famous homemade dumplings and molasses or sugar cookies. Lorraine would often mention the two vacations she took with her cousins to Nashville and California where the adults may have jumped on the hotel beds. Lorraine loved spending time with family. On the phone or in person for holidays, family reunions and camping. Her three favorite things in life were cookies, cigarettes and the casino.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Deborah Fossan of Granite Falls, Kathy (Robert) Balfany of Granite Falls, Laurie Hagen of Granite Falls, Susan Hagen of Granite Falls, JoAnn Hildahl of Moorhead, Sharon Hagen of Sartell; step-children, Bruce (Sandy) Tebben, Brian (Kristin) Tebben, Cathy (Bryan) Tolin, Sandy (Gary) Olson; step daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Tebben, grandchildren, Adam (Nicole) Hagen, Alicia Fjermestad, Patrice (Steven) Johnson, Melissa (Aaron) Smith, Robert Jr (Victoria) Balfany, Angella Abernathy, Teresa (Justin Wilson) Abernathy, Erich (Lynn Ducheneaux) Blue, Levi Blue, Jackie (Randy) Klefaas, Bradly Hildahl, Stephanie Robinson, Cole Schulte, Taylor (Jackie) Schulte, Eva Schulte, Zach (Brenna) Schulte; 34 great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Lorraine is preceded in death by parents; husband, John Tebben; daughter, Amy; son-in-law, Jerry Ostensoe; grandchildren, Shane Hildahl and Casey Schulte; step son, Steven Tebben.
