Julie Rhode

Julie Rhode, 57, of Montevideo, Minnesota passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at CCM Health after her battle with pancreatic cancer. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Visitation will be held Monday December 22, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the church with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service. Interment will be later in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Julie Lynn Rhode was born October 26, 1968, the daughter of Alexander and Diane (Benson) Grengs in Montevideo, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo. Julie attended school in Montevideo and graduated in 1987. She furthered her education by attending Granite Falls Vocational College.

Julie married and became a mom in 1990, enjoying being a ‘stay at home’ mom for Brett, Jennessa and Alissa. She went to work first at Luther Haven and eventually started at Walmart where she started stocking shelves and ended her career as a night supervisor. On September 29, 2001, Julie married Kevin Rhode at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Together they completed the family with one more son, Jarrett.

Julie loved to volunteer at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Sunday school and the youth programs. She also loved volunteering in her children's elementary classrooms. While growing up, her parents took the family camping and Julie enjoyed going to any lake, enjoying nature. Julie’s hobbies included reading, working cross word puzzles and word searches. She enjoyed watching her favorite soap opera and a good crime show. Julie loved her children fiercely and her last wish was to meet her two new grandbabies due in February and March. She was happiest when she was relaxing, playing games, and chit chatting with friends.

Julie is survived by her husband, Kevin; children, Brett (Nancy) Runia of Montevideo, Jennessa (Leif) Runia-Bade of North Mankato, Alissa (Cody) Rofshus of Luverne, Jarrett (special friend, Alexa Burg) Rhode of Montevideo; grandchildren: Rurik Rofshus, Odin Runia-Bade, Baby Runia-Bade due Feb 2026, and Baby Rofshus due March 2026; mom, Diane Loose of Montevideo; siblings, Steven (Lisa) Grengs, Deb (Ken) Rhode; as well as other family and friends.

Julie was preceded in death by her father, Alexander; father and mother-in-law, Dennis and Kay Rhode.

In lieu of flowers, plants and memorials are preferred.
