Jeanne Mickels

Jeanne Mickels, 80, of Clara City, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the Clara City Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 31st at 11:00 am at St. Clara Catholic Church in Clara City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Jeanne Carlee Mickels was born September 28, 1944, the daughter of Orvin and Eunice Lien, in Britton, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Britton. She graduated from the Britton High School in 1962.

Jeanne was united in marriage with Donald Mickels on October 19, 1962, in Watertown, South Dakota and they renewed their vows on May 18, 1965, at St. Clara Catholic Church.

Jeanne was employed with the VSC Store for 17 years. She also worked at Molenaars for 6 years, IMG Inc for 12 years and the Clara City Care Center for 8 years. Jeanne retired in 2009.

Jeanne enjoyed quilting and baking and was an active volunteer for many activities. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Jeanne passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the Clara City Care Center. She was 80 years of age.

She is survived by her daughters: Deborah (Jim) Szeremeta of New London, Kathy Sprock (John Drewelow) of Graceville and Sharon (Harlan) Doesken of Clara City; 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; sister Dordean Lien of Brooklyn Center; sister-in-law Lois Isley of Alexendria and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Donald.
