Janice Meyer

Janice Eileen (Olson) Meyer, 77, of Evansville, Indiana, and formerly of Cottonwood, Minnesota passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Services will be held on September 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls, Minnesota. Burial will follow at Cottonwood Cemetery in Cottonwood, Minnesota. Friends and family may visit from 1:00 pm until service time at the funeral home.

Janice was born in Canton, South Dakota on October 21, 1946 to the late George and Jessie (Vogelzang) Olson. She met her future husband, Eugene Meyer, in 1966 and they were married on January 28, 1967 in Sioux Center, Iowa. Janice and Gene moved to Cottonwood where they settled down to raise their family. In 1992, they moved to Evansville where she worked in the office for Deaconess Home Care and Hospice, retiring after 25 years of service. Janice loved being in nature, growing flowers, and watching the birds. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. Janice was a self taught accordion player and pianist. In her spare time she enjoyed puzzles and reading. Above all, Janice loved God and her family. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Janice is survived by her children, Eileen Kellogg of Cooper, TX, Lyle Meyer (Jinger) of Liberty Hill, TX, and Rhonda Simpson (Charlie) of Evansville, IN; sisters, LuAnn Dykstra of Sheldon, IA, Arlene Ketelsen (Martin) of Union Center, SD, and Norma Birkhofer (Cal) of Belgrade, MT; sister-in-law, Margariet Olson of Sioux Center, IA; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Janice was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene Keith Meyer; brother, Loren Olson; brother-in-law, Rodney Dykstra; and her parents.

A gathering for family and friends was held Friday, August 30, 2024 at Browning Funeral Home, in Evansville.
