Harold John Schacherer was born August 20, 1943, the son of Wayne and Gertrude (Soehner) Schacherer. He was baptized and confirmed at St. James Catholic Church in Dawson. He attended school and graduated from Dawson High School.

Harold was united in marriage with Barbara Pierce on July 16, 1977, at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Harold was an over the road truck driver, farmer, worked in construction and was a job coach at Heartland Industries until he retired in 2010.

Harold knew how to enjoy life to the fullest. They often changed clothes in the car between Montevideo Thunder Hawks and Dawson-Boyd Black Jacks events. Harold was a tennis super fan. His support for his grandkids, son-in-law Scott and the Montevideo Thunder Hawks teams was unmatched.

He is survived by his wife Barb; children: Jackie (Mark) Quigley of Montevideo, Joe (Joy) McDonald of Pennock, Ann (Nathan) Fjerkenstad of Boyd and Sara (Scott) Soden of Montevideo; grandchildren: Dakota (Anna) Frazier, Alexa (Erik) Frazier, Sierra Frazier, Tyson Quigley, Elijah Fjerkenstad, Eliana Fjerkenstad, Andrew (Erika) Soden, Allie Soden and Benjamin Harold Soden; great grandchildren: Declan and Dash Corey; siblings: Eileen Rosik, Glenice Myers, Virginia Schoen, Muriel Bach, Carol Andrews, Mary Smith, Allan (Donna) Schacherer and Jeff Schacherer; and a multitude of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
