Gladys Irene (Kruse) Foss was born April, 4, 1923, to John and Florence (Stewart) Kruse in Granite Falls, Minnesota where she lived most of her life. She graduated with the Class of 1941 from Granite Falls High School and went on to attend Northwestern College in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Gladys was united in marriage to Norman Foss of Hazel Run on April 14, 1948, at the First Baptist Church in Granite Falls. They made their home in Granite Falls and were blessed with one daughter Marilyn. Gladys and Norman were married for over 60 years.
Gladys worked at the Yellow Medicine County Bank for 40 years as an assistant cashier. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and also the Hospital Manor Auxiliary. Gladys was the treasure of the Yellow Medicine Historical Society for several years, served as an election judge for 15 years and was a RSVP volunteer for Senior Citizens.
Gladys loved people and enjoyed sewing, baking, especially lefse and crocheted many afghans making sure each of her grandchildren had one of their own. She treasured family and friends, valuing time spent with each.
Gladys passed away on October 18, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, at the of 95 years, 6 months and 14 days.
Gladys is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Joe) Peterson; three grandchildren, Tamara (James) Conklin, Trenton (Kamille) Peterson and Tad (Christina) Peterson; 13 great grandchildren, Kayla (Tommy) Sweany, Kameron Conklin, Angelisa Peterson, Florence Peterson, Naven Peterson, Tirzah Peterson, Vida Peterson, Eden Peterson, Tamene, Peterson, John Mark Peterson, Grace Theriot, Noah Theriot, Alex Theriot; as well as several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, and husband, Norman in 2008.
