Gayle Jensen, 76, of Hutchinson, formerly of Montevideo, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at her home in Hutchinson. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, April 14th at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7:00 pm on Monday evening with a prayer service at 6:30 pm at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Gayle Jean Jensen was born November 21, 1949, the daughter of Wallace and Esther (Lyngen) Myhre in Montevideo. She was baptized at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and confirmed at Watson Lutheran Church. Gayle graduated from Montevideo High School in 1967. She continued her education at Alexandria Technical College.
Gayle was united in marriage with Marvin Jensen on August 3, 1968, at Watson Lutheran Church. They lived in Little Falls for the next 13 years where Gayle initially worked at Camp Ripley, then spent the later years working as a medical secretary at St. Gabriel's Hospital. The family moved back to Montevideo, where Gayle worked at Countryside Public Health.
Following Marvin’s National Guard Company’s returning from their deployment in Iraq, Gayle received the Molly Pitcher Medal for her dedication to the spouses and children of the deployed. The Order of Molly Pitcher recognizes those individuals who have voluntarily contributed in significant and meaningful ways to the improvement of the Field Artillery Community.
Gayle was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, serving on the Altar Guild, Advisory Committee, Growth and Fellowship Board, Church Council and WELCA Mission Community Committee. She and Marvin were members of their local car club where they shared their ‘57 Chevy, she was also involved with Hatters Club and the Yellow Ribbon Support Group. Along with crafts, reading, sewing, flower gardening and puzzles. Gayle was a lifelong fan of Elvis and had an impressive collection of memorabilia. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and spending time with family at the lake.
She is survived by her husband Marvin, children: Tanja (Scott) Glaser of Hutchinson and Aaron (Kari) Jensen of St. Paul; grandchildren: Kendall (Jessica) Glaser, Lane (Jillien Lilleberg) Glaser, Ty (Heidi Engman) Glaser, Kaia Jensen, Kendi Jensen, Klo Jensen and Konley Jensen; siblings: Gary (Gail) Myhre of Hanover, Lee (Sherry) Myhre of Montevideo and Lola Anderson of Montevideo; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Gayle took to heaven the name of her first great grandchild, the rest of the family will find out in October.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
