Dennis “Denny” Harguth, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at his home after a short battle with cancer.

Dennis Jerome Harguth was born on August 4, 1942, in Montevideo, Minnesota to Merle and Marie (Harms) Harguth. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Clara Catholic Church in Clara City, of which he was a lifelong member. He attended St. Clara Catholic School until the 8th Grade and graduated from Clara City High School in 1960.

On August 3, 1963, Dennis was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Ruth Kluver. They were blessed with two daughters. Mom would have to admit that those 63 years together were never dull! They were fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel and spend many summers together at the cabin on Maple Lake near Alexandria. They lived out most of their years on a farm site near Gluek, Minnesota, and moved into Clara City in November of 2022. Dennis was proud to be from the small dot on the map called GLUEK. He could recall all the businesses, residents, and the train coming into this small town.

Denny’s life was farming. He spent his days working, planting and harvesting the fields, fixing equipment and always found joy in driving around to check the fields. Denny was thankful for each and every harvest. The values he taught his kids and grandchildren were strong and sound. When he wasn’t attending to his farm duties, Denny could be found in a game of Pinochle with the guys or venturing out to a good old farm auction. Oh’ the stories we could all share about some of the items he would drag home. Dad would have to admit that the new online auction system took all the fun out of it; no more visiting with the other bidders or listening to the auctioneer’s chant. The buying and selling of the old 2-cyclinders was his favorite. He was fortunate to do that until the day he passed. His last sale was a pair of JD 730 tractors on their way to Arkansas.

On his 83rd Birthday we celebrated him with a tractor parade around the section. He recalled it as his best birthday ever! Good things come to those who wait!

Dad was most proud of his four Grandsons. He was blessed to have gotten the opportunity to watch them all grow up to be farmers too. One harvest day I recall hearing him say “This is the best day ever, I am working in the same field as all my grandsons.” Thank you, Dad and Grandpa for all the great memories and lessons learned! I hope we can recall and share your stories going forward.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters, Kim (Lee) Bosch, Stephanie (Craig) Burner; grandsons, Michael (Lindsey) Bosch, Christopher (Meghan) Bosch, Joseph (fiancée, Morgan DeHaan) Burner, Benjamin (Liberty) Burner; great grandchildren, Ellie, Hailey & Nolan Bosch, Haddie & Landrie Bosch; brother-in-law, Wayne Coulter; sisters-in-law, Joyce Harguth, Ruthann Harguth; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and his faithful dog Teko.
