Darrell Arthur Spletter was born on February 12, 1933 to Arthur and Molly (Draeger) Spletter of Montevideo. He attended country school and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1951. After graduation, he served his country in the Armed Forces and spent some time stationed in Germany.
Darrell married Charlotte Lassell and to this union five children were born.
Darrell farmed the home farm all of his life and tried to be a perfectionist in all aspects, whether it was straight rows in his fields or machine maintenance.
In December of 1990, Darrell married the love of his life, Carol (Hein) Spielmacher. The couple loved their combined families, warts and all, and would probably tell you there was not an ugly one in the bunch.
Darrell enjoyed horses, trail riding, dancing, country-western music, and especially his western travels with Carol. He had a unique sense of humor and always loved a good laugh.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Terry (Darlene) Spletter of Spicer, Sherry (Steve) Hamann of Holloway, Scott (Bo) Spletter of Wadena, Lori Perry of Parker, CO, Tammy Farmer of Hutchinson, Steve (Kim) Spielmacher of Kalamazoo, MI, and Traci (Stan) Rhode of Clara City; niece, Jan Lembeck. Together they were blessed with 7 children, 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Molly; sister, Jeanette Reinert; nephew, Kim Reinert.
