Cynthia Marie Johnson, 70, of Montevideo MN, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease complicated by Pulmonary Fibrosis after contracting Covid in 2021.
A memorial service will be held at Wing-Bain Funeral Chapel 595 14th Ave Granite Falls, MN on Saturday August 31 at 2:00 pm with visitation an hour prior at 1:00 PM. Following the service there will be interment at Doncaster Cemetery at 5553 255th Ave Granite Falls. Please join the family for fellowship food and refreshments after interment at the Granite Falls American Legion Post 69 at 60 Sixth Ave Granite Falls, MN upstairs.
Cynthia was born on October 7, 1953 in Fargo ND to Edmund and Maxine Huotari. Graduating High School in Dilworth MN and then attending college at NDSU. She spent her career in the hospitality industry with the most pride and fondness for Concordia College in Moorhead, MN as Catering manager and at Townhouse Inn and Suites in Fargo ND and sales at Holiday Inn in Detroit Lakes MN.
Cynthia met the love of her life and married Kim Johnson in 1992 they lived in Detroit Lakes until 1999 then moved to Montevideo MN where Kim based his home office in Fluid Power Sales positions and later as Key Account Manager for HYDAC Technology Corp until his retirement in 2024.
Cynthia was an excellent cook, avid reader and loved sewing, crocheting, gardening and spending time with family and her beloved dogs Maggie, Skye, Bailey and most recently Maddie. Together with Kim they enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking and exploring their favorite places with camper and motorcycle. Cynthia was very proud to be an avid and devoted member of AA these past 24 years, she devoted much of her time to the program. She brought love, grace ad support to all her fellow members of AA
Cynthia is survived by her husband Kim, two sons Christopher (Stacy) Skodje of Bremerton WA, Casey Skodje (Kristin) together with her treasured grandsons Finn and Soren Skodje of Villard MN and Jacob Miller of Fargo ND, her siblings Sonia (John) Gandrud of Glenwood MN, Lynette (Claude) Smith of Great Falls MT, Dan (Peggy) Huotari of Fargo ND and Monte (Edie) Huotari of Orange CA. Numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews, she loved her family to no end. She is preceeded in death by her Mother, Father, Brother Mark and Grandson Owen Skodje. Also, Kim’s Mother Janet, Father Lyle and brothers Todd, Craig and Randy.
Cynthia treasured her wonderful friendships, family and pets, she loved, nurtured and gave to others of herself always trying to make things better for those she loved so much. She is sorely missed and will long be remembered for her contagious smile and laughter.
Now it is time for you to rest, so go in peace, you’ve earned your sleep, your love in our hearts we’ll eternally keep.
