Bonnie Erickson, 89, of Granite Falls passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Luther Haven in Montevideo. Arrangements are pending at this time.
Bonnie Rose (Spies) Erickson was born August 28, 1936 to Robert and Elizabeth (Johanson) Spies in Granite Falls. She was baptized and confirmed at Granite Falls Lutheran Church; Bonnie graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1954. After graduation she worked as the bookkeeper for a local creamery until she stepped away to raise her family.
Bonnie was united in marriage to Donald Erickson on June 16, 1957 at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. They were blessed with two daughters, Barb and Katy. Bonnie helped Donald farm for many years. Quilting was Bonnie’s passion. Once retired, she started a quilting business where she worked with fabric and quilt designers around the country. Her quilting lives on through her quilts she made for her family and her quilt donations to local organizations.
Bonnie loved to travel but was always ready to come back home to her haven. She enjoyed connections she made while being involved in many local clubs. Bonnie’s family meant the world to her and she loved the time spent with them.
Bonnie survived by her daughters, Barb (Rick) Calley of Red Wing and Katy (Jamie) Kulesa of Granite Falls; grandchildren, Lindsay (Stuart) Larson and Alex Calley; sister, Ann Lies; brother, Robert Spies Jr.; as well as beloved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents, Robert and Elizabeth; sisters, Marie Crone and Betty Erickson; brother, Dale Spies.
