Beverly “Bev” Nordang, age 76, of Granite Falls passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Avera Care Center in Granite Falls. Visitation and lunch will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at United Church of Christ in Granite Falls.
Beverly Ann Nordang was born July 10, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was welcomed home by the Gaylord and Ruby (Ueland) Moseng family. She was baptized at The First English Lutheran Church in Marshall, Minnesota and later confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Baxter, Minnesota. Bev graduated from Boyd High School in 1965. She attended the Granite Falls Area Vocational Technical Institute from 1965 – 1966, majoring in stenography.
After attending school, Bev worked various jobs in the Granite Falls area as a waitress or bartender. Bev married Marvin Nordang on September 5, 1973 in Watertown, South Dakota. She later worked as an inspector at MTI in Montevideo for decades, eventually retiring from there.
Bev was a member of the United Church of Christ where she served on the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed helping and volunteering at the Senior Center in Granite Falls and also volunteered for the Living at Home Block Nurse Program, as well as being a member of the Building Bridges Choir.
Bev enjoyed baking treats to share with others, she was well known for her chicken dumpling soup and lefse. She never shied away from a good political debate with anyone and also loved playing cards, crossword puzzles, Wordle and was an avid reader. Bev was a talented, artistic, quilter extraordinaire! She created and made hundreds of quilts for her friends and family as well as for donations for local charities.
Bev is survived by her children, Lisa Nordang (Craig Pomerenke) of Hewitt, Cindy (Dave) Smiglewski of Granite Falls, Greg (Jayne) Nordang of Wood Lake, Natalie Nordang of Brooklyn Park, Brad Nordang of Granite Falls; 12 grandchildren, Kelly (Chris) Howe, Kandi (Cody) Hess, Amanda Braun-Krutchek (Dustin), Laurel (Chad) Christianson, Cody Smiglewski (Katie Grundl), Seth Smiglewski (Lauryn Buda), Chris Lorenzen (Jenny Holtan), Nicole (Lane) Bodin, Tyler (Brie) Gordon, Jocelyn Gordon (Doug Clair), Cheyanne Nordang (Justin Moist), Garrett Nordang (Saraya Burgeson); 24 great grandchildren; siblings, Wayne Moseng, Donna (Earl) Craig, Harvey Moseng, Norma Schearer, Linda Wasmund; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bev is preceded in death by her parents, Gaylord and Ruby Moseng; husband, Marvin Nordang; siblings, Gaylen Moseng, Elias Moseng, Judy Kirschbaum; nephew, Kelly Moseng; and niece, Melinda Craig.
