Barbara Knox Saeger

Barbara E. Saeger, age 94, a longtime resident of Apple Valley, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026.

Barb was born on March 5, 1932 in Granite Falls, MN to the late Jesse E. and Karna (Jensen) Knox. She came from a large family of 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

After graduating from High School in Granite Falls, Barb met Robert Saeger, moved to Mpls and were married. They had 4 children together, Shyla, Rod, Randy and Roberta. In the early 80's Barb moved to Apple Valley where she lived for the remainder of her years.

Barb worked at Zinsmaster Bakery in Mpls for 14 years and then worked for Control Data/Seagate in Bloomington, MN for 25 years and retired at the age of 62.

Barb liked staying active, she was on a bowling league, she ice skated, and downhill skiing, golfing, going to art fairs, shopping, crocheting, gardening, baking, and cooking (especially her glorified rice and homemade vegetable soup with dumplings), loved watching Vikings football and Wild (North Star) hockey.

She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and hosting the entire family on holidays and special occasions. She was a grandmother of 8, Nicole, Danielle, Megan, Jake, Mike, Christine, Matt and Steve, 7 great grandchildren Blake, Natalie, Makenna, Emma, Liam, Henry and Bodhi. 4 great great-grandchildren, Calliope, Lincoln, Oliver, and Elijah.

She is preceded in death by her sons, Rod and Randy Saeger; son-In-law, Doug Moats; brothers, Robert, Harold, Jimmy, and Keith; sister, Rosemary (Anderson).

She is survived by daughters, Shyla (Dennis) Kloosterman and Roberta Moats; sister, Donna (Gary) Halvorson, and daughter-in-law, Carrie Franzen. As well as many nieces and nephews and extended family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, October 24, 2026 at White Funeral Home, 20134 Kenwood Tr. Lakeville, MN (952-469-2723). With a gathering of family and friends 1 hour prior to service. Interment at City Cemetery of Granite Falls, MN on Sunday October 25 at 1 PM.
