LaBonna “Bonnie” Eunice Skjefte was born February 28, 1931, the daughter of Ole and Hannah (Agre) Imes, in Hawk Creek Township, Renville County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the Hawk Creek Lutheran Church. Bonnie attended country school and later graduated from Sacred Heart High School, where she had the honor of being chosen as the Homecoming Queen. Bonnie furthered her education at St. Cloud College receiving a degree in education. She began teaching at Bellingham where she lived for a short time. LaBonna was united in marriage to Galen Lowell Skjefte on June 8, 1952, at the Hawk Creek Lutheran Church. They made their home on a farm where Galen and Bonnie worked as a team providing for their family. She was a member of the local Homemakers Circle and the Farmer’s Union where she taught some classes. Bonnie’s faith was extremely important to her and she daily read her Bible and served at the church on the Ladies Aid and also was a Sunday School teacher. LaBonna was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, valuing her family the most. She enjoyed camping, cooking, baking and growing flowers. Bonnie will be remembered for her kind, compassionate nature. LaBonna is survived by her children: Paulette (Dr. Dean) Lindquist of Spicer, David (Valerie) Skjefte of Granite Falls, Jim (Mary Jo) Skjefte of Granite Falls, Alan (Stacy) Skjefte of Eden Prairie, Galen Skjefte Jr of Granite Falls; grandchildren, Chris (Laura) Lindquist, Crystal (Bryce) Swenson, Nicole (Jon) Ashburn, Miranda (Cody) Wilking, David Skjefte, Destry (Kelsey) Skjefte, Mariah Skjefte, Garret Skjefte, Trent Skjefte, Lucas (Lauren) Skjefte, Tony (Margo) Skjefte, Sydnee Skjefte, Sylvia Skjefte; great grandchildren, Laiken, Hadley, Aftyn, Camden, Violet, Ambrie, Emmitt, Annsley, Penelope, Genevieve, Kaylee, Lola; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. LaBonna was preceded in death by her husband, Galen L. Skjefte; parents, Ole & Hannah Imes; siblings, Myrtle, Raymond, Orville, Merald.
