Clifford Toov, age 89, of Montevideo, Minnesota passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 at his home. A Private Family Service was held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo on Monday, January 24, 2022. Interment followed at the Canby City Cemetery. Clifford Merle Toov was born on August 22, 1932, on the family farm in Burton Township, Minnesota. He was the son of Bernt and Lillian (Knutson) Toov. Clifford was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended school and graduated from Canby High School. He served in the Korean War. On February 8th, 1958, Cliff was united in marriage with the love of his life, Patricia Olson. The couple started their lives together in Porter, Minnesota and eventually moved to Montevideo, Minnesota in 1960. Together they remained each other’s best friend and lovingly raised their five children. Clifford and his brother, Warren, had a great relationship and became business partners. The two of them were fortunate to own two businesses together, the Mobile Station and a Ford Tractor Dealership. In 1972, Cliff began working in the court system as the deputy court administrator and in 1974 was given the position of court administrator for Chippewa County. Cliff was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and served as an usher. He was a member of Montevideo American Legion Post #59 and served on various boards. He also served in the Honor Guard and truly enjoyed giving his fellow service members a dignified salute. Cliff was a member of the Montevideo VFW Post #380. Cliff had many interests and hobbies. He loved spending time with his wife, Pat. Together they enjoyed dancing, listening to country music, playing cards with friends and family, going on motorcycle and snowmobile rides, and taking trips. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved sharing jokes and stories with them. Cliff was a jack of all trades, from rebuilding totaled cars to using a sewing machine to building model size motorcycles out of popsicle sticks. He was everybody’s first call when it came to having a question. Cliff never hesitated to put others before himself. He respected others and treated everyone with kindness. He never spoke a negative word or raised his voice. Cliff was a true role model and was the person his family strives to be like. He was as close to perfect as they come. Clifford is survived by his children, Karen (Kennan) Schueller of Dawson, Doug (Sue) Toov of Pennock, Michael (Sara) Toov of Montevideo, Jodi (Duane) Grussing of Montevideo, David (Melissa) Toov of Silver Lake; grandchildren, Holly (Keith) Nesges, Jackie (Willy) Mekeel, Jason (Vicki) Schueller, Ivy (Dave) Mumm, Ryan Schueller, Erica Clauson, Adam (Emily) Toov, Matthew (Melissa) Toov, Jessalyn Toov, Jordan (Stephanie) Baldwin, Trisha (Zachary) Suchanek, Brianna (Anthony) Carruth, Nicole (Austin) Hansen, Clifton Toov, Braydon Toov, Benton Toov, Amanda (Paul) Reeb, Justin Holmgren; great grandchildren, Nathan, Norah, Drew, Brock, Ruby, Remy, Grayson, Nolan, Hayes, Tate, Jordin, Max, Aubrey, Paisley, Jackson, Ana, Olivia, Brooks, Logan, Paisley, Wren, Miles, Cash, Griffin, Grayer, Paul Jr., Silas; sisters and husband, Evelyn “Posie” Leier of St. Paul, Marjorie (James) Haugen of Oakdale; sister-in-law, Lorraine Miller; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Clifford is preceded in death by parents, Bernt and Lillian Toov; wife, Patricia, grandson, Nathan Schueller; brothers, Orval and Warren; brothers and sisters-in-law, LeRoy Olson, Lorraine (Merle) Dick, Bernard Leier. Memorials may be directed to Montevideo American Legion Honor Guard or Our Savior's Flag Memorial.
