History & Staff

We have years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life. Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in service, and have the highest integrity.

Our History

In 1962, Richard (Dick) and Dorothy Wing purchased Nerison Furniture and Funeral Service from Carl Nerison. Dick was a graduate of the College of Mortuary Science and had years of experience with such notable firms as Werness Brothers in Minneapolis, MN.

Eventually, Dick and Dorothy sold the furniture business and relocated to the present location at 5th and Black Oak Avenue. The building itself having been remodeled to accommodate the funeral business as well as a private family dwelling. They raised their three children- Beth, Rick & Cynthia in the funeral home and moved to a private residence in the mid 80s.

In 1974, Dick purchased DeGrote Funeral home in Clara City and in 1979, Cynthia and her husband Everett H. Bain entered into partnership with the Wings. Everett also graduated from the University of MN College of Mortuary Science. Dick and Everett purchased the Hamre Funeral Home in Granite Falls, MN in 1982 and in the early 90s, Everett and Cynthia purchased and maintain controlling interest in all three funeral home locations.

Throughout the years, Wing-Bain Funeral Home has been extremely fortunate to have numerous dedicated staff assist in the daily operations. Among these have been Walter and Nellie Kruger, Jim Palm, Greg Zniewski, Karl Pfaff, Helen Hill, Norma Bourne, Merle Miller, Merlyn Bucholz, Norman Kjos, Lyle Olson, James Bowen and Cole Sabe. Current staff consists of licensed directors- Everett H. Bain and Joseph W. Anderson.

This dedicated team takes great pride in assisting community members with the difficult task of arranging for their loved one’s final tribute and offering expert assistance in pre-planning and pre-financing traditional funeral and cremation/memorial services. The funeral home also provides educational opportunities by conducting tours of the funeral homes and informational presentations to numerous church, school and civic groups. As an added service, monument and marker selections are also available.

Since its inception in 1962, Wing-Bain Funeral Home has seen many changes, but its underlying foundation and commitment has been to provide the community with the highest quality funeral service including compassionate, professional guidance, with strict attention to detail, regardless of family means or circumstance. We take great pride in the service we provide and hold the confidence placed in us in the highest regard.
