Our History

In 1962, Richard (Dick) and Dorothy Wing purchased Nerison Furniture and Funeral Service from Carl Nerison. Dick was a graduate of the College of Mortuary Science and had years of experience with such notable firms as Werness Brothers in Minneapolis, MN.

Eventually, Dick and Dorothy sold the furniture business and relocated to the present location at 5th and Black Oak Avenue. The building itself having been remodeled to accommodate the funeral business as well as a private family dwelling. They raised their three children- Beth, Rick & Cynthia in the funeral home and moved to a private residence in the mid 80s.

In 1974, Dick purchased DeGrote Funeral home in Clara City and in 1979, Cynthia and her husband Everett H. Bain entered into partnership with the Wings. Everett also graduated from the University of MN College of Mortuary Science. Dick and Everett purchased the Hamre Funeral Home in Granite Falls, MN in 1982 and in the early 90s, Everett and Cynthia purchased and maintain controlling interest in all three funeral home locations.

Throughout the years, Wing-Bain Funeral Home has been extremely fortunate to have numerous dedicated staff assist in the daily operations. Among these have been Walter and Nellie Kruger, Jim Palm, Greg Zniewski, Karl Pfaff, Helen Hill, Norma Bourne, Merle Miller, Merlyn Bucholz, Norman Kjos, Lyle Olson, James Bowen and Cole Sabe. Current staff consists of licensed directors- Everett H. Bain and Joseph W. Anderson; Pre-need and Advanced Planning Specialist- Linda Haff.


This dedicated team takes great pride in assisting community members with the difficult task of arranging for their loved one’s final tribute and offering expert assistance in pre-planning and pre-financing traditional funeral and cremation/memorial services. The funeral home also provides educational opportunities by conducting tours of the funeral homes and informational presentations to numerous church, school and civic groups. As an added service, monument and marker selections are also available.

Since its inception in 1962, Wing-Bain Funeral Home has seen many changes, but its underlying foundation and commitment has been to provide the community with the highest quality funeral service including compassionate, professional guidance, with strict attention to detail, regardless of family means or circumstance. We take great pride in the service we provide and hold the confidence placed in us in the highest regard.


Our Valued Staff

Everett  Bain

Everett Bain, Everett Bain Owner/Director

Everett H. Bain grew up on a farm near Redwood Falls, MN and moved with his family to Montevideo in 1969. He graduated from Montevideo Senior High School in 1974 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of Mortuary Science, University of Minnesota in 1979. He entered into partnership with Richard E. Wing, founder of Wing Funeral Home. Together they operated Wing-Bain Funeral Homes of Montevideo and Clara City. After assisting Dick Hamre in his business for several years, Everett & Richard purchased Hamre Funeral Home of Granite Falls in 1982. Everett is currently owner and president of Wing-Bain Funeral Home (s), Inc. and Eternal Monument Company. Everett has served on chamber boards, church boards, city boards and participated in numerous community service organizations. He is past president of District IV Minnesota Funeral Directors Association, served on the Minnesota Sudden Infant Death Board and is currently deputy coroner in both Chippewa and Yellow Medicine Counties (a position he has proudly served for the past 28 years). He is also a member of the Minnesota Coroner & Medical Examiner’s Association. His hobbies & interests include hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, crime scene forensics and golf. With the assistance of his fellow dedicated staff of professionals at Wing-Bain Funeral Home, Everett is proud to maintain and provide an excellence in service to those entrusting Wing-Bain Funeral Home with the care and final tribute to their loved ones. With a solid reputation of attention to detail in pre-need and at-need funeral assistance, Wing-Bain Funeral Home sets the standard for uncompromising, compassionate and professional service to all members of the communities it serves, regardless of means.


Linda  Haff

Linda Haff, Advanced Planning Associate

Retired in December 2002 from First National Bank of Montevideo with 27 years of personal banking experience. Licensed insurance agent with the State of Minnesota. Member of United Methodist Church of Montevideo, Heritage Hill and Chippewa County Historical Society. Married with two children and five grandchildren.


Joseph  Anderson

Joseph Anderson, Director

Graduate of Rockwell City High School, attended Iowa Central Community College and graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. Licensed Funeral Director and active with the firm since 1993. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Chippewa County Fair Board. Joe lives on a farm north of Granite Falls with his wife Savanna. They have two adult sons, Josh (Bri) & Colton and two grandchildren.
